Marble is one of the most beautiful and classic building materials available, used for counters and walls as well as flooring. It comes in a wide variety of sizes, colors and textures, in polished and honed finishes. Some marbles even come in brushed and tumbled finishes, which are naturally skid-resistant.
We stock more than a dozen types of marble in white, beige, green, brown and gray hues, some with visible fossils of plant roots and sea shells. We can also order many common types, if you are looking for a specific product that we do not stock.
One well-known stone is Carrara marble, from Tuscany, Italy. This white or bluish-gray marble has been valued for many centuries, used for sculptures and building construction. It is still prized throughout the world as an elegant material. Our Carrara is available in prefabricated countertops as well as tiles. We have mosaics and liners that use Carrara, 4x4", 6x6" 12x12" and 16x16" polished and honed products on display.
Limestone and marble are related, made from the same basic sedimentary material. As limestone is heated under pressure deep in the earth, it becomes harder and more dense, transforming ultimately into marble. In general, limestone has a more uniform coloration than marble. Most of our limestone comes from Turkey, and has a smooth honed finish, with rectified edges that allow for narrow grout lines and a clean, modern look.
