Slate

Slate is a natural stone used for thousands of years as tile and as a roofing material. Slate varies in color, hardness and resistance to wear and moisture. The hardest slate comes from deep mines, and is a very durable material.

Our Brazilian slate is very durable, and has been cut to an exacting size with sharp edges, allowing you to install the tiles in a close pattern with 1/8" grout lines or less. African and Indian slates have more variation in size and thickness, creating a more rustic stone flooring appearance. Chinese slates are somewhere in between, some with very regular sizes and thickness, others with a bit more variation.

Many of our slates are installed as flooring in different parts of our showroom, so you can see how they look and how well they wear.
