SLATE
Slate is a traditional, metamorphic
rock that tends to split along natural grains and fissures in the rock
creating a rustic surface that is appropriate indoors and out.
African
Slate
is a dense, flat, gauged tile that can be thinset
with no leveling required. It comes in these colors: Autumn, Silver Blue,
and Westcountry. African Autumn is colorfast under heavy floor traffic,
unlike African Multicolor, whose color "walks off" over time.
Indian
Raja Slate
is a slate selected to fall within a close range
of thickness allowing the tiles to be installed with thinset mortar over
a level surface. It comes in these colors: Autumn, Kashmir, Silver Grey,
Mahu, and Multicolor. The slate is quarried from the Raja region of Northern
India and should not be confused with Southern Indian multicolored slate,
a much less dense stone that loses color over time.
Chinese Slate
is less uniform than African, with
more surface clefting and color changes, giving it great warmth and character.
It comes in these colors: Green, Black, Silver Grey.
Vermont Slate
is very high
quality, durable, low absorption stone with a cleft face. It comes in
grey, black, green and mottled purple. Grade B material is gauged but
has a more rugged texture and some surface color changes not found in
Grade A material.
Brazilian
Slate
is an extremely well calibrated and well gauged slate of exceptional quality
and great value. It is very dense, which makes it highly durable and colorfast.
We carry gray, black, multicolor and green in 12x12 and 16x16 sizes. |
